A girl makes the journey home from the gravity fed water supply system in Tedecha Guracha, Ethiopia. In much of Africa the fetching of water is a female activity and often young girls walk many kilometers to collect their family's supply. Such arid conditions in the low lying Rift Valley combined with poor soil quality and a lack of trees mean dust clouds are a everyday occurrence during the dry season.
